Eyes open, and it rises. Flooding the air around me, it rises, acrid and thick.
It smolders deep.
Lives continue, rushing past. All too busy, too caught up in their own private universes... blurs in a steamed up mirror.
It smolders deep.
Faceless heads on bodies that curl away, streaming their care into the clouds, far from me. Just more thought. Can't spare that. Can't stop. Can't care. Just keep moving.
It smolders.
Deep inside. Curling through sinews and lungs, exaled through the skin. Darkness, the abyss, clouds my body, until I'm just a rumor. A whispered name, a name on a screen, a detached voice. Nothing more than more time.
And I smolder.
