Acceptable Casualties

These are the faces of the Iraq war, as Further words are unnecessary. Just look into the faces of the children and say to yourself that war is justified. These are the ‘acceptable casualties’ the army speaks of. The displaced persons.

First painting in a series to be entitled ‘Natural Disasters’.


I found the original much smaller photo of this scene in a Korean newspaper. Not sure of either the name of the newspaper or the author of the original photograph that I used as a basis for this painting. I modified the colors a lot to depict a more obvious mood.
